Area Cancellations and Closures Over Virus

(St. Francois County, MO.) 

With the Corona Virus presenting unique challenges to local, state, and national governments programs are being effected and buildings are being temporarily closed. Farmington city officials have made the decision to close the Oaks Senior Center, the Civic Center, and the Public Library. Meals on Wheels for home bound individuals will still be delivered. If you go to the center for your meals call 573-756-1376 for meals or frozen meal packs. Starting Wednesday The Farmington Public library will be closed through April 6th. All library programs are canceled and all meeting room reservations from Wednesday through April 6th are canceled. No donations are being accepted now by the library and patrons will not be charged fines during the shutdown. The Farmington Civic Center is closed Wednesday through April 6th.

The remainder of the FUTSAL League at the Civic Center has been canceled. Other cancellations at the center include the Senior Trip to Anheuser Bush Friday, March 20th, the Indoor Triathlon Saturday, March 21st, the Lifeguard classes scheduled for March 27th through the 29th, they've been tentatively rescheduled for April 17th through the 19th, The Dog Bone Easter Egg Hunt, and Youth Swimming lessons for Saturday March 21st.

Officials with the Farmington's Municipal Court are announcing a continuance of court dates for Wednesday, March 18th at 6:30 PM and Wednesday, March 25th at 6:30 pm. If you are scheduled for one of those dates you're asked to come to the April 15th court date at 6:30 instead.

KFMO B104 News has also learned the other Senior Centers in St. Francois County, the Park HIlls, Bismarck, and Bonne Terre Senior Centers, are following a similar schedule for meals but have also closed their buildings. Contact each individual center for more information on the different plans.

Jefferson County has declared a state of emergency and is asking all people to be aware of what's going on regarding the virus. 
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is saying even if you just think you might have some sort of respiratory infection, let alone be around someone with Corona virus, that they do not want you to go to any driver testing site in the state until you feel better.
State Parks have for the most part canceled any events and tours across the state, but the parks themselves remain open for now.

In all a total of 8 people in Missouri have tested positive for the virus, with at least three of those in the St. Louis Area.  Officials at the CDC and White House expect the number of cases to increase this week considering the incubation period with those that may be infected.
