Electrical Costs Topic at Farmington Meeting

(Farmington, MO) Many Farmington city electrical customers are dealing with increased energy costs those extremely cold temperatures of a few weeks ago. Farmington city council members talked about the problem at Thursday night's council meeting. City Administrator, Greg Beavers, says there are two problems associated with the energy used in town during the two week period of extreme cold.

According to Beavers council members were also told the other problem with energy relates to the cost for the city during the cold period. The wind, solar, and coal generated sources of electric for Farmington weren't fully operational at the time and that produced a higher rate for the city. Beavers explains the city will absorb that cost for now. In other business at Thursday's Farmington City Council meeting the annual contract for excavating services, paving, concrete work, and more.
