Ex Cop Cozine Sentenced to 5 Years Probation

(Bonne Terre, MO.) A former Bonne Terre Policeman, Travis Cozine, is sentenced to 5 years probation in St. Francois County Court, after pleading guilty Friday to one count of a Class D Felony assault. He had originally been charged with assault in the second degree, unlawful possession of a weapon, and armed criminal action. Reports indicate Cozine, who was the arresting officer at the scene of an alleged domestic violence disturbance in Bonne Terre in May of 2018, allegedly struck the handcuffed suspect several times in the face with brass knuckles. The attack caused facial injuries to the suspect including a cut that had to be stitched by emergency room personnel. Cozine was suspended form the Bonne Terre Police Department during a use of force investigation conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
