(Park Hills, MO.) Park Hills Council members will be voting on whether or not to follow the state's new minimum wage law after Tuesday night's council meeting. Park Hills City Administrator, Mark McFarland, says certain government entities are not required by law to enact the current minimum wage.
According to McFarland the current wage of $8.60 an hour is moving up to $9.45 an hour. McFarland explains council members will be voting on whether or not to approve the rate at the February council meeting. In other business at the meeting officials approved placing the internet use tax back on the April ballot. The tax is not extra or new but it is the same sales tax you pay at a storefront location when making purchases locally. This gives the city the chance to collect sales tax on internet purchases. McFarland adds if this issue is approved by voters all the funds would go to the renovation, repair, and maintenance of the towns streets, sidewalks, and stormwater facilities.
