Second Police Chief Arrested in St. Francois County

(Leadwood, MO) The Police Chief of Leadwood, 38 year old William Dickey, is charged with three felonies and will make his initial court appearance in St. Francois County Court Thursday, October 22nd. Dickey is charged with stealing a firearm, tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution, and hindering the prosecution of a felony. According to reports Dickey is accused of taking a semi automatic pistol obtained from a traffic stop in January of this year. It's also reported the associated logbook entries concerning two guns and  a controlled substance from the traffic stop, were covered over with correctional tape. Dickey admitted to investigators the gun was at his home. He turned himself over to law enforcement officials Thursday. Dickey was booked into the St. Francois County jail on a $20,000 bond. If he's released he is prohibited from engaging in any law enforcement activity and cannot possess a firearm. He would also be subject to random weekly drug testing. Dickey's arrest comes on the heels of the arrest of the Police of Iron Mountain Lake, 
51 year old John Washburn after a similar investigation.
