Supply Chain Problems with Meat

(St. Francois County, MO.) You've probably noticed meat prices at the grocery store are rising.  A Food Specialist with the University of Missouri Extension office, Debi Kelley, says we've had a short circuit behind the scenes with meat producers and processing plants.

Kelley explains the commercial slaughter houses temporarily closing has created a backlog of processing and that's why you're seeing a problem with meat prices. She also says local butchers and meat packers are booked solid in some cases through January of next year to process meat because of the issues going on with much bigger meat processing facilities.
