Washington County Nabs Murder Suspect

(Washington County, MO.) A homeless man, 28 year old Dustin Lee Combs, is in custody after being arrested Sunday by Washington County Sheriff's Deputies. Combs is charged with 1st Degree Murder, Armed Criminal Action, and Felony Stealing in the death of Mark Pitts of rural Laclede County, Missouri. Pitts died from a gunshot wound July 2nd. Information posted on the Washington County Sheriff's Department Facebook Page indicates Investigators with the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office developed Combs as a suspect Sunday, July 5. After conducting several interviews Combs was identified as a person who matched the description given by Combs’ associates. Combs was positively identified as a person who was to meet with the victim in the parking lot of a local business the night Mark Pitts was murdered. Combs was arrested in Washington County in the victim’s pickup truck. He was armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest. He attempted to flee on foot, but was caught by a Washington County deputy. Combs had a warrant for his arrest in an unrelated matter, and when the deputy checked the vehicle, he found it was stolen and connected to the Laclede County homicide. Combs is being held without bond.
